component assembly

Creation of assembly tools and installation sequences in CATIA V5 for the installation of very large and heavy components for the ITER machine. The picture shows several components for the installation of one sector of the Vacuum Vessel in its final position. The central column should also accommodate the Central Solenoid, the largest component of the ITER machine with 1000 tons and 28m height.

Creation of test rigs for the installation of mechanical components in final position. The picture shows a Vacuum Seal previously designed in CATIA V5, being examined in an external facility to check the tooling is appropriated for the installation and to train the personnel on how to install it in its final position on site. Vacuum seals cannot be touched with bare hands so a dedicated tool was designed to avoid any contact with the sealing faces. This test facility is in Bangalore, India.

Despite I have worked directly in the creation of all the models shown here, all the pictures belong to the ITER project.
